A Packed Lineup of Speakers and Panel Discussions Highlight the Eco Asia Conference. A Strong Fringe Programme Debuts New Thought-provoking Forums

The 12th edition of Eco Expo Asia will take place from 26 to 29 October 2017 at AsiaWorld-Expo, Hong Kong. Organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), and co-organised by the Environment Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government, the expo serves as a prominent trading platform for environmentally-conscious businesses in Asia. This year’s expo will feature 335 exhibitors from 19 countries and regions.

The Eco Asia Conference will once again invite notable specialists and academics to lead a wide range of captivating sessions that aim to cover the most pertinent environmental protection issues in Asia. This is the first time that Eco Expo Asia has invited the Water Supplies Department, Drainage Services Department, Business Environment Council and the Hong Kong Green Building Council to be the co-organisers of the Eco Asia Conference. Below are some of the expected highlights:

In addition to the acclaimed industry conference, a fringe programme of forums, seminars and workshops will allow exhibitors and visitors the chance to make the most of their time at Eco Expo Asia.

Green Transportation Forum

As electric vehicles are only going to become a bigger part of our daily lives, the Green Transportation Forum will cover the development of electric vehicles, charging facilities and how these new technologies will become integrated into public transport infrastructure.

Startup Forum

Debuting at the expo this year is the Startup Zone which will see a number of startups showcase their green technologies and solutions to visitors. The Startup Forum allows the invited representatives of five startups to deliver a series of talks introducing their innovative approaches to very Asia-centered issues. Topics under the spotlight include how to establish green communities in urban spaces, smart thermostats and how to utilise air conditioners as air purification machines.

Government Departments' Forum

For the first time at Eco Expo Asia, a Government Departments‘ Forum will be held as an opportunity to learn more about various environmentally-minded government projects. Topics to be covered include Hong Kong’s largest solar installation at Siu Ho Wan Sewage Treatment Works, retro-commissioning across the territory and energy management strategies in the Water Supplies Department.

Test Drive / Test Ride

Participants are welcome to try out a range of electric vehicles including the Hyundai IONIQ Hybrid/IONIQ, the DFSK Electric Light Goods Vehicle EC35 and the emco NOVA Sharing e-scooter (except on 29 Oct).

Public Day activities

The final day of the fair, Sunday 29 October, is open to the general public for free. The Green Mart will feature a number of companies selling products from organic foods and snacks to natural skincare and beauty items. Visitors to the Green Workshops will have the chance to DIY useful new things made from reused and upcycled materials including dehumidifying bags for household use. Not to miss is the Public Day Forum which will feature talks on environmental topics including climate change and polar expeditions.
