After qualifying as an Electrical Engineer, Paul spent nearly 30 years working in Energy Management building boiler houses and energy centres in hospitals and industrial premises. He managed a team of H&S and Environmental specialists for a number of years, and later qualified as a Lead Assessor and Co-ordinating Authorising Engineer. Since retiring from full time employment a few years ago Paul has worked for the Combustion Engineering Association (CEA) on a number of projects including the Boiler Operation Accreditation Scheme (BOAS) and the Industrial Gas Accreditation Scheme (I-GAS) where he edits and manages the scheme handbooks and the examination papers. He regularly meets with the Environment Agency and others to assist with the implementation of the Medium Combustion Plant Directive, and has chaired many of the CEA Technical Boiler House Risk Assessment conferences and contributed to many CEA publications.
