Expanded Water Quality Parameters for Colorimeter Gives Greater Flexibility with Tried and Tested Ease of Use

Aug 09 2010

Merck (Germany) has upgraded two Spectroquant® Picco colorimeters for added convenience and versatility. With expanded parameters, these colorimeters prove extremely practical wherever users need to monitor drinking water, waste water, the water used in swimming pools, bottled water production, hygiene, and disinfection – directly in the field or production area.

The Spectroquant® Colorimeter Picco Cl2/O3/ClO2/CyA/pH now features two additional parameters – chlorine dioxide and cyanuric acid. Specialists in the food and chemical industries as well as research and contract labs can now monitor several basic water quality parameters with just one device. They can also select their preferred method for monitoring free and total chlorine: powder reagents or liquid reagents (for use in very humid environments). The cost-effective colorimeter delivers rapid results, and users will reap the maximum benefit from it with ready-to-use reagent sets and various pack sizes for Spectroquant® chlorine and ozone test kits. The chlorine tests are USEPA-approved for chlorine in drinking water and waste water.
Merck has also enhanced the capabilities of the chemical oxygen demand (COD) cell test on the Spectroquant® Colorimeter Picco COD/CSB. As waste water becomes progressively cleaner, industry professionals need a device that measures increasingly lower amounts of impurities. The colorimeter now offers four measuring ranges, from 10 g/l up down 10 mg/l – ideal for users working with waste water and at sewage treatment plants. Suited for ready-to-use, USEPA approved Spectroquant® COD cell tests, the colorimeter complies with ISO 15705 for all COD tests.

Both the Spectroquant® Colorimeter Picco Cl2/O3/ClO2/CyA/pH and the Spectroquant® Colorimeter Picco COD/CSB also measure absorption and store the results of the analysis with a date/time stamp.

These improvements notwithstanding, both colorimeters remain easy to operate and are preprogrammed to use Spectroquant® test kits.
