Wyoming town lauded for wastewater achievements
Sep 03 2009
A representative from the Wyoming Office of State Lands and Investments was yesterday due to present the Performance and Innovation in the State Revolving Fund Creating Environmental Success award to the town - which receives an annual snowfall of 500 inches - on behalf of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Carol Rushin, EPA's acting regional administrator in Denver, said that the town's efforts to upgrade its wastewater infrastructure offer a potent example of the type of investments that will help US communities to protect local water resources for decades to come.
"The town has taken clear and proactive steps to improve water quality and protect public health," she stated.
Alpine replaced its previous wastewater treatment plant and introduced its new sewage collection system using a Clean Water State Revolving Fund loan.
