World's first UV wastewater treatment system 'granted approval'
Mar 10 2009
CST Wastewater Solutions said its Berson InLine+ UV system, the first of its kind to be approved globally, could prove important to solving water shortage problems recently experienced by countries such as Australia and the US, reports Fluid Handling.
The California Department of Public Health formally approved the use of the technology for wastewater reuse applications, such as post-filtration and reverse osmosis.
In the future, UV technology could be used in areas of the world with low levels of water, such as southern Europe and China, CST Wastewater told the news provider.
A new wastewater treatment was also introduced to the consumer market recently.
Box4water, developed by Luxembourg-based firm Epuramat, features a wastewater treatment utility capable of creating clean water - suitable for drinking - for around 200 people.
