Water quality 'top of the agenda in Utah district'
Sep 08 2009
Iron County Water Conservancy District in Iron County, Utah has been recognised by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for investing in safe drinking water and extending its centralised water distribution system to areas throughout the county.
Carol Rushin, EPA's acting regional administrator in Denver, praised the district for its achievements, which included planning, designing and completing a consolidation process that combined several different drinking water systems into a single, regional water distribution scheme.
Prior to the project, several small water systems were operating throughout the valley, with varying degrees of success with regards to compliance.
In related news, the EPA is set to celebrate the end of US President Barack Obama's Summer of Service at an Urban Waters Service Day in Bladensburg, Maryland on September 12th.
