Montana district recognised for water quality achievements

Sep 08 2009

A Montana district has received an award in recognition of its water quality achievements.

The Upper/Lower River Road Water and Sewer District located in Great Falls has been lauded by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which presented it with a Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) award for Sustainable Public Health Protection.

Carol Rushin, EPA's acting regional administrator in Denver, stated that the hard work undertaken to enhance drinking water infrastructure in the region is a great investment in local environmental health.

"The Upper/Lower River Road Water and Sewer District offers a potent example of the type of investments that will help our nation's communities provide safe drinking water for decades to come," she commented.

In related news, water quality monitoring is set to continue at the Wilson Farm Superfund site in Plumsted Township, New Jersey, despite the fact that the EPA is deleting [it] from its list of the country's most hazardous waste sites.
