Spec-Imaging is revolutionising industrial processes by providing real-time data solutions that enhance decision-making and optimise operations. The company’s innovative use of modulated light technology for inline analysis has redefined the way industries handle cloudy, turbid liquids, utilising advanced data generation and sophisticated mathematical models, including artificial intelligence, to deliver unprecedented insights.

The foundation of Spec-Imaging’s technology was laid in 2008 with pioneering research at Lund University (LTH). The research, focused on aerosol analysis using applied physics, provided the groundwork for a novel approach to liquid analysis. Over the next decade, this research evolved into a breakthrough idea by post-doctoral researcher William Chaze, who proposed applying aerosol analysis techniques to liquids. This led to a method for distinguishing absorption from scattering based on how light interacts with particles in water. This discovery significantly improved the understanding of liquid properties and opened doors to numerous industrial applications.

Spec-Imaging then focused on translating this academic knowledge into practical industrial solutions. The company's mission was clear: to shift from theoretical research to real-time, data-driven decision-making within operational environments. This vision materialised in 2020 with the founding of Spec-Imaging, driven by a bold commitment to move laboratory analysis directly into industrial process lines. By doing so, industries could access and act on real-time data from their operational pipelines, creating a paradigm shift in industrial processing.

The company's first major commercial success came with the launch of the Handheld IC-VIS Colorimeter, a product that proved the effectiveness of inline measurements for real-time data collection. This milestone demonstrated the potential of Spec-Imaging’s technology and set the stage for a growing product portfolio focused on industrial applications.

Spec-Imaging is conducting pilot trials on advanced systems designed to analyse cloudy, turbid liquids. Their offerings include state-of-the-art spectrophotometry, colour measurements in opaque liquids, and particle characterisation. These products are equipped to generate large volumes of data, with artificial intelligence and computational tools incorporated to ensure the accurate interpretation of this information, enabling industries to optimise their processes with greater precision.
