Spills and soil contamination webinar set for 20th April

Mar 23 2022

According to the US Department of Transportation there were 21,539 hazardous material incidents in the USA during 2021. These incidents can have significantly adverse effects on the environment as well as public health. With stricter environmental targets and legislation, mitigating and preventing hazardous material incidents is a crucial in our efforts to create a cleaner, greener and safer future.

The first step to improving public safety and the environment is to learn about the nature of hazardous materials and how we categorise them. We then need to look at the processes currently being used and how they can be improved to eliminate the danger posed by these substances to human health, as well as avoiding contamination to soil and waterways. It is therefore extremely important that health and safety professionals understand the potential risks and how to avoid or minimise the effects of hazardous material spillages.

ION Science has teamed up with Health & Safety Matters to deliver a free webinar on this important subject. The webinar will highlight how important it is to comprehend the dangers caused by hazardous material spillages, and the effects on public health and their environment.

The Spills and soil contamination webinar will include discuss the following key topics:

  • How do HAZMAT spills occur?
  • What are current HAZMAT processes?
  • The effects spills can have on human health
  • The environmental impact of HAZMAT spills, which will include soil contamination
  • How PID (Photo Ionization Detection) technology identifies and tracks spills and contamination
  • Live Q&A session

Registration is free of charge and the webinar takes place on 20th April 2022 at 10.30am GMT.
