Informative article highlights ammonia gas leak detection technology and expertise used for refrigerant monitoring at major UK supermarket chain

Mar 18 2024

IGD recently worked on a project for a multinational supermarket chain, based in the UK, that required the installation of 36 ammonia gas leak detectors in their refrigeration system.

IGD worked with Phares Engineering, is a highly reputable company with a wealth of experience in the HVAC and Public Health Services. Phases Engineering’s culture of providing top-level project management and engineering design solutions, combined with IGD’s well-earned reputation for providing superb gas detection technology, backed up by a team of highly experienced staff to provide excellent customer service, made a winning team.

One of IGD’s recent customers recommended them initially, then their extensive industry knowledge, scalable solutions, and 100-year tradition of providing groundbreaking innovation in gas detection were the factors that persuaded Phares to opt for IGD as their chosen partner in this project.

Ammonia is an economical as well as eco-friendly refrigerant; however, it is extremely toxic and presents a considerable risk to human health even in low concentrations. Precise and dependable gas monitoring is therefore a critical component of site safety.

For this project a monitoring system was needed that was compliant with environmental and health and safety regulations and could meet low alarm level requirements. IGD's combination of its TOC 750S samplers and ionic ammonia sensors more than met their specific needs. For the full article click here.
