Dynamic Vapour Sorption (DVS) Moisture Analyser

Sep 19 2008

Surface Measurement Systems (UK) introduces the latest dynamic gravimetric water sorption analyser – The DVS Intrinsic. The DVS Intrinsic rapidly measures uptake and loss of moisture in the sample by a controlled flowing carrier gas at a specified relative humidity (RH) over a sample suspended from the weighing mechanism of our highly sensitive and stable digital microbalance (SMS Ultra-Balance).
This detects the sorption of water vapour by the increase or decrease
in sample mass. Applications include the impact of hygroscopicity, water sorption kinetics and water induced morphology changes in filtration materials, nano-polymers, membrane materials. Other applications include diffusion through protective thin films and many more.
The analyser is capable of accommodating a sample mass up to 4g
and with dimensions as large as 40mm. The sorption behaviour of very
small samples sizes (typically 1-20mg) can be accurately determined.
Changes in sample mass of 0.1 microgram and unrivalled long-term stability are hallmarks of the DVS Intrinsic.
The Intrinsic has a temperature range from 20-40ºC with control to ±
0.1°C ensuring excellent instrument baseline stability as well as accurate control of the relative humidity generation. These features are critical for the accurate measurement of water sorption phenomena.
Designed to meet the needs of the small to mid-sized laboratories
and manufacturing plants, the DVS Intrinsic combines ease of use with a
low capital investment and maintenance burden. Add industry leading
electronics, software interface with step-by-step wizards and Isotherm
analysis software, the DVS Intrinsic represents high performance with
minimal operator training. The unit`s small footprint makes optimal use of limited bench space. High-Throughput is achievable via DVS-IntrinsiLinkâ„¢ which expands the operation of up to 5 analysers from one PC.
