Hand Held Analyzing Spectrometer
Jul 04 2009
MicrOptix Technologies, (USA) has launched the Surface Reader Adaptor for its i-LAB® Hand Held Analyzing Spectrometer. The recently patented i-LAB is the first hand held analyzing spectrometer for testing liquids and solid surface colors. The i-LAB performs real-time measurement and analysis of liquids and solids in the visible light range from 400–700 nanometers. An NIR i-LAB model is scheduled to be released by June. The product utilizes the company’s patented, integrated sensing system to accomplish spectrometer functionality in a compact and user-friendly package.
The i-LAB System features two sample interface adapters for liquid and solid surface sample measurements in the laboratory, field, plant, and classroom environments. The product is highly energy efficient as it is powered by 3 AA batteries and features LED’s as the light source. It is these reduced power requirements that allow the product to conduct spectrometer quality measurements in a hand held, portable device.
The i-LAB package also includes i-LAB Spectrum™ Software that gives users the ability to create customized measurement methods for specific applications to be downloaded to the i-LAB for use. The user-specific measurement methods can then be utilized to analyze data directly at the sample source site as opposed to taking samples back to the lab for analysis. The i-LAB is able to store data and analyses information for later uploading to a computer.
“The i-LAB’s compact size and flexible measurement capability enables a broad range of spectroscopy measurements to be performed outside the laboratory in real time.” – Norm LaVigne
