New analytical innovation enables fast and precise TNb determination in water and environmental monitoring applications

The LAR Ultra analyser series from Process Insights AG is used to measure TOC, TC, TIC, TNb, TOD and COD.

TNb (Total Nitrogen bound) is considered an important indicator of nitrogen loading in various environmental media and is often measured using a catalyst. However, catalyst performance degrades over time, affecting measurement results and necessitating periodic recalibration. The accuracy, and therefore reliability, of TNb measurements is thus compromised.

Process Insight's latest development allows the elimination of a catalyst by using a reactor packing with special ceramic balls. As a result, TNb concentrations are accurately determined down to 200 ppm TNb.

The innovation enables precise and rapid measurement of TNb and offers added value for environmental monitoring, resource efficiency, water quality and ecological research.
