New director to support advancement of AI strategy

Blackline Safety Corp. a global leader in connected safety technology, today announced the appointment of Vasi Philomin, Executive Vice President, Data and AI at Siemens, to its Board of Directors with effect from 11th September 2025. Previously, Philomin served as Vice President & General Manager, Generative AI for Amazon. 

A leading voice in enterprise AI adoption across many industries, Philomin brings deep expertise in industrial AI and IoT platforms, with a proven track record of commercialising innovations at global scale. His experience in scaling AI and hardware-enabled SaaS (HeSaaS) platforms supports Blackline’s focus on using connected data and AI to improve worker protection and productivity.

In his current role at Siemens, Philomin leads Data and AI, where he is responsible for accelerating the development of the company’s AI portfolio across industrial applications.

Previously, at Amazon, he spearheaded the creation of Amazon Bedrock, a platform that enables enterprises to rapidly build and scale generative AI applications. He also helped lead AWS’s generative AI and product strategy efforts, including the development and deployment of foundation models via Bedrock. 

Before Amazon, Philomin pioneered connected lighting solutions at Philips for municipalities and global landmarks including the Empire State Building and the Bay Bridge. With more than 100 U.S. patents, he combines deep technical expertise with a proven ability to develop and commercialize innovations that deliver significant business impact.

Philomin holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and dual Master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Maryland.
