Air Monitoring
Seoul's air quality 'deteriorating', finds study
Nov 27 2008
Conducted by the Metropolitan Air Quality Management Office of the Environment Ministry, the study's results were revealed on Sunday and stated that, despite air monitoring efforts, its quality has deteriorated this year.
According to the compiled data, the presence of pollutants such as ozone, sulfurous acid and nitrogen dioxide in the capital city's air was greater in 2007 than it was in 2005.
This news comes despite the government injecting the equivalent of over $1 billion into air quality improvement over the last two years, reports english.chosun.com.
In related news, South Korea's neighbor, China, was praised by Friends of the Earth US this week for taking methods to try and reduce the amount of traffic and therefore air pollution in its capital city Beijing.
