Organisers Expands Exhibition Area by 30% in Response to Overwhelming Demand

Feb 08 2008

All the exhibition space has been snapped up at the Singapore International Water Week, a global event for water solutions taking place in June this year, and organizers have increased floor space by 30% in response to the excellent demand.

To date, 150 participating companies from 18 countries across the USA, Europe, Middle East and the Asia Pacific have signed up for the Water Expo, one of the highlights of the Singapore International Water Week. The Water Expo is a major water trade show focusing on innovations, products, services, best practices, successful case studies and practical applications of water technologies.

The 4,000 sq m exhibition space will feature national pavilions showcasing technologies from China, Germany, Malaysia, Netherlands, Japan, Israel and Singapore as well as a wide range of participating companies and organisations.

At the Singapore Pavilion, PUB, the national water agency of Singapore will share its water story and promote Singapore’s thriving water industry.

The Water Expo will also include the New Product/Innovation Corner, presenting exhibitors an exclusive area to stage the launch of new products and solutions. In addition, there will be the H2O Biz Stage, a platform that spotlights research projects which are ready for commercialisation.

“We are delighted that the global and regional water industries have taken a great interest in the Singapore International Water Week,” said Mr. Jimmy Lau, Managing Director of SAe Pte Ltd, who is co-organising the event with PUB. “With the wide range of practical solutions and products on display, exhibitors are confident that they can reach influential decision-makers through our event.”
“The strong support shown by all sectors of the water industry has been very encouraging. It shows Singapore’s emerging reputation as a hub for water technologies as well as the growing importance of water as a worldwide concern,” added Mr Michael Toh, General Manager of the Singapore International Water Week.

The first Singapore International Water Week will be held from 23-27 June. It will bring together policymakers, industry leaders, experts and practitioners to address challenges, showcase technologies, discover opportunities and celebrate achievements in the water world. The jewel of the event will be the SGD300,000 Lee Kuan Yew Water Prize to be given to an individual for his or her outstanding contributions towards solving the world’s water woes by applying innovative technologies or implementing policies and programmes which benefit humanity.

Organised around the theme “Sustainable Water Solutions for Cities”, the focus of the first Singapore International Water Week is on best practices, successful case studies and the practical delivery of water solutions and technologies.

Singapore’s Prime Minister, Mr Lee Hsien Loong, will open the Singapore International Water Week in conjunction with the World Cities Summit. A distinguished slate of speakers has been lined up for this high-profile event, including Mr Lee, who will deliver the opening address. Other speakers include Lord Ronald Oxburgh, member of the House of Lords and the advisory board of Climate Change Capital; and chief executives of international companies such as GE Infrastructure, Black & Veatch, and Keppel Corporation.

In addition to the Water Expo and the Lee Kuan Yew Water Prize, other key events of the Singapore International Water Week include:

The Water Leaders Summit, chaired by Singapore’s Ambassador-at-Large Prof Tommy Koh, who is also chairperson of the Asia-Pacific Water Forum Governing Council. The summit will bring together decision-makers in government, utilities providers and water companies from around the world to network and discuss global issues and challenges.

The Water Convention, which will focus on technology and practical delivery, with experts from industry and academia exchanging ideas on the latest advancements and applications.
