The Organisers of the International Conference on Mercury as a Global Pollutant (ICMGP) have announced that the 15th meeting will take place virtually in 2022 and will return to Cape Town as an in person event for 2024. This is great news for the international mercury community, with so much uncertainty in the World with Covid, travel restrictions and budget restraints the ICMGP Scientific committee’s announcement has given the industry some positive news and an opportunity for greater international participation.

Marcus Pattison Executive Member of ICMGP says "With so much happening with Mercury research this announcement gives the Mercury community something to look forward to, we have invested in a tremendous new Virtual platform that will give delegates many many opportunities to network together with new and old friends as well as sit in and participate in workshops and oral sessions. Having a virtual ICMGP will mean we can offer reduced registration fees which will mean the ICMGP conference will be opened up to many more delegates and researchers, going Virtual will also mean delegates can present to and meet with their peers from the comfort and safety of their home environment."

For the first time ever the ICMGP conference sessions will be recorded so registered delegates who in the past were either unable to attend or had a “clash” of session timings will now be able to watch presentations “on-demand”. The Virtual event in 2022 has also allowed us to expand our conference team and reach which will mean the 2022 event will attract many more researchers and scientists who have an interest in mercury. In August we will open up the call for papers so please watch this space and make sure you send in your abstracts.

We look forward to welcoming and seeing you to our Virtual event we have an exciting program ahead and a great opportunity to share this experience.
