Celebrating the 5th anniversary of its dedicated iPEK service centre, Ashtead Technology has added the repair of ATEX systems to the suite of services provided. “This is a vitally important advance in our service capability,” comments Regional Sales Manager Jay Neermul. “The iPEK crawlers and push rods are amongst the most popular instruments in our rental fleet, and many customers now ask for explosion proof equipment such as the Rovion EX and the Agilios EX. We have therefore invested in both staff training and equipment, to ensure that we are able to offer this advanced level of service.”

Remote control CCTV pipeline inspection cameras and push-rods operate in very challenging conditions, so it is essential that they are robust and well maintained. For these reasons the Ashtead Technology fleet of inspection equipment includes the Rovion and Agilios. The demand for this equipment was so great that in 2015, Ashtead created a dedicated iPEK Service Centre, and when the company moved to new larger premises in Bedfordshire, support capability was doubled with the creation of a dedicated iPEK Repairs Lab. Technician James Huff now works full time on iPEK service and repairs with support from other staff when required; providing a rapid response service for customers. James is highly experienced and has received extensive training at iPEK’s facility in Germany.

Summarising, Jay says: “Our comprehensive service capability works extremely well in tandem with the rental fleet because we are able to provide rental units whilst equipment is in for repair, so that customers do not have limit their inspection capability. The addition of EX equipment to the service list will be great news for customers and we look forward to further expanding our services to better support customers’ requirements in the future.
