Welcome to our special Emission Monitoring supplement celebrating 25 years since the start of the first International CEM conference.

The first CEM event started in the United Kingdom in 1997 and has been held in The Netherlands, Denmark, France, Switzerland, Italy, The Czech Republic, Turkey,Portugal, India and Hungary. In 2022 we ran our first Virtual CEM meeting, this was due to the Covid, travel restrictions and Venue Health and safety prohibitions. The virtual CEM event has however lead to many new opportunities for emission monitoring specialists who wouldn’t necessarily be able to attend these focused industry events to network with new contacts, presenters and leading CEM equipment and service providers.

Past visitors and delegates to the CEM events have come from a range of industries around the world that have a common goal and the need to monitor emissions from their plants or processes. CEM events provide attendees with a wealth of information on Emission regulation, future monitoring challenges, standards and quality procedures, dust measurement, measuring gaseous species, mercury and trace metals monitoring, fence line and fugitive monitoring as well as innovative and new measurement technologies. The 2022 CEM virtual event attracted over 1,600 emission monitoring specialists from over 100 countries, there were many, many productive online meetings, business and technical discussions.
