Gardner Scale is Ideal for Use in The Petrochemical Industry
Feb 22 2011
Guaranteed conformance with standards is critical to the success of any business. With the recent ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation, customers can be confident that the Lovibond® Tintometer (UK) range of instruments, liquid reference standards and glass reference standards enable them to ensure conformance with these internationally accepted standards.
Accreditation now formally includes the Platinum-Cobalt and Gardner Colour scales which are both commonly utilised across a wide range of industries, often in conjunction. The lower resolution of the Gardner Scale is ideal for use in the petrochemical and paints and varnishes industries. It is complemented by the Platinum Cobalt Scale when higher resolution is required or very lightly coloured liquids are being analysed such as in the petrochemical industry.
Detailed descriptions of both scales can be found in the Scales section of the Lovibond® website.
What is ISO/IEC 17025 and how is Accreditation Awarded?
ISO/IEC 17025 is an International Standard that specifies the requirements for the competence to carry out tests and/or calibrations. A documented quality management system fulfilling the requirements of ISO9001 is an integral and essential component of a laboratory’s application. The laboratory must also demonstrate technical competency for the testing and calibration services (including measurement uncertainty and traceability to the appropriate National and International Standards). Only then can ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation be awarded.
