UK Based Research Improves Air Monitoring Systems

In a partnership with the University of Leicester, Bluesky (UK) are developing a unique airborne air quality mapper (AQM), which will record the levels of NO2 over an entire city in a matter of hours on a 20m by 20m basis. The project also aims to integrate the airborne data with ground based in-situ sensors, to give a calibrated picture of the NO2 at a given point in time. This will allow councils and other stakeholders to monitor and benchmark pollution levels at regular intervals.
The latest stage in the research into air pollution modelling is designed to improve the way the monitoring systems work together in order to measure pollution levels as well as looking at vertical mixing ratios of air in cities and the potential impact of buildings and trees.
