Rapid, laboratory precision water quality analysis in a handheld instrument

Jun 22 2023

The Ultrameter II™, from Myron L® Company, is a handheld instrument that brings fast and lab-accurate readings to water quality measurements taken in the field; this highly reliable and accurate device features a comprehensive suite of in-situ water quality analysis tools and provides an economical and easy alternative to conventional laboratory analysers.

The Ultrameter II™ Model 4P provides conductivity, resistivity, total dissolved solids (TDS) and temperature readings with unsurpassed speed and ease. Its autoranging capabilities give users increased reading resolution across a broad range of applications, allowing them to make informed decisions based on accurate information. The instrument features three pre-programmed solution models - KCl, NaCl, and Myron L’s own 442 Natural Water™ Standard; the Ultrameter II™ Model 4P enables users to select the solution model that most closely matches the constituents of the analyte, therefore achieving a higher level of accuracy in comparison to instruments programmed to a single standard. For known solutions, a user mode can be programmed, providing a superb benchtop accuracy of ±1% of reading in a handheld instrument. The Ultrameter II™ Model 4P is built to withstand harsh conditions, thanks to its IP67 rating for dust-tight and waterproof performance. It is also NEMA 6 submersible and buoyant, ensuring reliability in all seasons and environments. Additionally, the bluDock™ option enables wireless data transfer for greater efficiency and convenience.

Meanwhile, the Ultrameter II™ Model 6PFCE offers all the features of the model 4P while also incorporating the ability to measure pH, ORP, and Free Chlorine Equivalent (FCE™). pH readings are temperature compensated, and users can opt between 1-, 2-, or 3-point calibration for precise results within ±0.01 pH accuracy. The proprietary pH sensor design features a large potassium chloride solution reservoir for a prolonged sensor lifespan. The Ultrameter II™ Model 6PFCE ORP measurements use a 99.9% pure platinum electrode as well as a shared reference junction with the pH sensor to ensure reliable and accurate results with an impressive ±1 millivolt accuracy. Furthermore, the Ultrameter II™ Model 6PFCE introduces a new approach to determining Free Available Chlorine (FAC). By utilising an innovative FCE function, users can obtain empirical measurements of a solution’s chemical activity without the inconvenience and subjectivity of colorimetric and test-strip methods. This unique feature uses a proprietary predictive ORP algorithm to measure free available chlorine levels at the actual pH of water, providing a complete picture of the effectiveness of chlorine treatment.

Both Ultrameter II™ models are made for simplicity, with their easy calibration and maintenance procedures. The model 6PFCE pH sensors are user-replaceable, thus ensuring long-term usability and less downtime for operators in the field.

Myron L® Company has complete confidence in the quality and reliability of its products and offers live expert technical support for the entire lifespan of all their highly reputable instruments.
