Nanocolor® UV/VIS PC Software

Sep 15 2008

The new NANOCOLOR® UV/VIS software by Machery Nagel is a powerful tool which extends the application possibilities of the spectrophotometer NANOCOLOR® UV/VIS considerably. Data safety and integrity were key focus in the development of this program. All recommendations of GLP are fulfilled as well as the even stricter demands of the FDA 21 CFR Part 11. The availability of analytical data in digital form gains more and more importance in all industries. Therefore, the NANOCOLOR® UV/VIS software offers interfaces to standard office software like MS Excel or Open Office Calc. Also an export of the data into the trendsetting XML format is already included. For scans over a wavelength range, also the export and import possibilities to and from the standard format ANDI according to ASTM 1947-98 is available.
Of course, a compatibility with the standard TEXT format is included for quick and easy data exchange with standard software.
Along with the availability of data, the safety of information plays an important part. With the new NANOCOLOR® UV/VIS software, accidentally erased or changed data are things of the past. For every data-generating event, an encoded data file is generated automatically. This file contains all information about the measured data like user, date and many more. All adulterations or manual changes to these numbers are detected by the software and reported. With these data, all original information can be regenerated in case of a system failure or data loss. Measuring reports, spreadsheets and diagrams can be copied via mouse-click and are available for use in standard software. The control of measuring and monitoring devices for internal quality control (IQC) can be carried out with a simple mouse-click, including a printout of validated test protocols. Lamp power, correctness of wavelength, photometric correctness, proportion of scattered light according to DAB or the signal / noise relation are parameters which can be checked.
The automated implementation of user-defined methods was reengineered completely. Calibration rows can be interpreted in linear or polynomic regression up to 4th grade. If possible the graphic user interface shows all method data like confidence interval, detection, quantitation and determination limits after their determination by the software. An automatic analysis of statistical blips is included, and the software supports the programming of own methods according to A51 (“calibration of analytic methods”) and repeated measurements. User-defined methods can easily be administrated in a database and copied to and from the photometer.
Another new highlight of the NANOCOLOR® UV/VIS software is the integrated colour measurement. With this feature, the spectrophotometer NANOCOLOR® UV/VIS turns into a fully-fledged colorimeter for liquid probes. The measurement is done 100% in accordance the regulations CIE 15:2004.The determination of L*a*b* or XYZ colour values and the L*u*v* and Hunter-Lab colour spaces can be done with the illuminants A, C, D65, D50, D55 and D75. All established colour indexes like Iodine colour index, Hazen/PtCo-index, Gardner-, Saybolt, ASTM, and ADMI can be measured. Absolutely unique is the measurement of the most important colour differences like CIE 1976, CIE 1994, CIE 2000, CMC and DIN 99. The spectrophotometer NANOCOLOR® UV/VIS and the NANOCOLOR® UV/VIS PC software form a strong team for universal use in all areas of water and wastewater analysis. Even for quality control in industrial fields like oil, cosmetics, food or beverages industries the spectrophotometer NANOCOLOR® UV/VIS is the ideal measuring instrument.
