Precise TOC value - every 3 minutes

Nov 10 2014

Wherever pure water is produced or used, strict monitoring requirement has to be met. The preferred and partly prescribed by law method for the assessment of organic pollution in pure water is the online TOC analysis. Special requirements are lowest ranges and the detection of the organic carbon content within minutes. Moreover, various samples should not be falsified, by memory or carryover effects of previous measurements or contaminated ambient air. Reliable, fast and precise measurements ensure the opportunity to take countermeasures, e.g. the redirection of streams or drainage of polluted water. Thus preventing corrosion and deposits in the pipes to avoid a system failure.

The TOC analyser QuickTOCpurity determines reliably the true total organic carbon content (TOC) in lowest measuring ranges. The True TOC measurement takes place in less than 3 minutes (difference method). The true TC can be measured even in one minute (direct method). The TC is particularly advantageous when a high proportion of TIC is present. This speed guarantees that very short peaks can be determined very well during a daily cycle. With a touch of a button, simple and remote controlled calibration and validation can be activated at any time. With this method contamination and long downtimes are excluded, in contrast to the use of liquid standards. The modular system offers a high flexibility. When your application demands it, you can measure up to six different sample streams with one analyser for example. Each sample stream is individually lead into the analyser in order to avoid cross contamination. Furthermore, you may build in additional detectors to determine the TNb and COD parameters alongside the TOC or TC. By using the recognised loop injection ultrapure water impurities in ranges of 0... 2,000 ppb can be determined reliably. Generally, in low TOC ranges the direct method is preferred. Here, the sample is transferred to a sample vessel, in which a weak acid is added as required. As a result, the demand for acid of the QuickTOCpurity has been minimized. With the patented catalyst-free LAR high temperature measurement at 1,200°C samples are completely oxidised. Despite the high temperatures used, absolute safety is guaranteed in all settings. For this end, the QuickTOCpurity can be delivered with a number of different housings, depending on the intended location. That way the analyser can be safely installed in high corrosive places as well as in Ex-Zones. The determination is in accordance with EN 1484:1997-08, ISO 8245:1999-03 and EPA 415.1.

LAR's QuickTOCpurity is the online analyser for fast and precise determination of TOC in the measurement range up to 2,000 ppb. It easily meets strict requirements, wherever pure water is produced or used - whether monitoring of condensate, boiler feed or cooling water. Furthermore, it has a multi-stream option with up to 6 streams. The extremely low operating and maintenance costs go hand in hand with the saving potential resulting from the process optimization.
