Monitoring Temperature and Humidity in Pharmaceuticals Storage with the Wireless Data Logger System, testo Saveris 2

Aug 15 2015

In pharmacies, medicines must be stored under tightly controlled climatic conditions, with continuous and reliable temperature and humidity monitoring. However, expenditure in terms of time, cost and work is often disproportionate to the benefit it is intended to provide. Testo has re-thought temperature and humidity monitoring, and considerably simplified automated measurement data recording. With the data logger system testo Saveris 2, all relevant ambient conditions in the dispensary, laboratory or prescription preparation areas are under control. Simple, anytime and anywhere.

The challenge

Almost all pharmaceutical products are temperature and humidity sensitive, and must be stored continuously within defined limit values. It is important to avoid fluctuations, as many modern medicines react considerably more sensitively to temperature and humidity differences. Even less sensitive products have also been proven to suffer from extreme fluctuations, the so-called ‘controlled room temperature’ (CRT) has come more and more into the focus of monitoring.

According to various guidelines, parameters such as temperature and humidity must be monitored without interruption along the entire wholesale chain, from the pharmaceutical producer to the pharmacy. Every violation of the prescribed limit values is a deficit which must be assumed if proof of temperature or humidity curves is missing.

The solution

The new data logger system testo Saveris 2 offers a simple cost and time-efficient measurement solution, and considerably simplifies the automated monitoring of climatic ambient conditions.

Values are transmitted by WiFi to the cloud, In the case of a limit value violation, the system automatically sends an alarm by e-mail and/or SMS. No software is needed for recording, analysing and saving measurement data. The double storage of all measurement values in the data-logger and in the Cloud, ensures a high level of data security.
