Gas instrument manufacturers could win big by going small

DD-Scientific is pleased to announce the launch of the MceL gas sensor, an innovative new format designed to enable manufacturers to develop instruments which are smaller, more wearable, and more advanced.

With a compact footprint of just 8.3mm x 14.4mm, MceL reduces sensor volume by 75%, catering for customers who are looking to downsize their instruments as well as those who want to incorporate more features into existing enclosures.

The introduction of MceL allows OEMs to develop devices which are more compact and portable than ever before, opening up new markets and applications. Additionally, in creating space within instrument enclosures, MceL enables inclusion of additional hardware such as larger batteries, communication modules or additional sensors, allowing OEMs to design instruments which offer increased functionality without an increase in footprint.

Critically, and unlike other miniature gas sensors, performance of the MceL at least matches that of its 4- series equivalent, meaning no compromise when it comes to the safety of its users.

Key features of MceL include an ultra-compact design, which significantly reduces size, enabling the development of smaller, more wearable gas detection instruments. It also offers superior sensor performance, outshining many competitors' 4-series sensors with enhanced accuracy and reliability. Engineered for high-volume production, MceL is optimized for large-scale automated manufacturing, making it competitively priced and available with fast lead times. Initially, it offers gas detection in Lead-free O2, CO, and H2S variants, with additional sensors planned to be added to the MceL range later this year.

“As the gas detection landscape evolves, MceL represents a significant step forward in enabling instrument manufacturers to create more compact and flexible instruments,” said Will Parrett, Sales & Marketing Director at DD-Scientific. “The MceL presents OEMs with something which has been missing from the market to date - a credible, compact sensor offering which has been developed for high-volume applications and priced accordingly.”

The MceL gas sensor is now available for order.
