Air Monitoring
Ultrafine Particle Monitoring During 2008 Olympics
Oct 17 2008
Athletic performance and health are adversely affected by high levels of airborne particles. Many Olympic authorities and national teams are concerned about such effects on their athletes during the Beijing Olympic Games. Monitoring the levels of toxic air pollutants is necessary in order to evaluate the efficacy of these efforts and will provide important information for authorities engaged in environmental remediation and the development of Low Emission Zones.
The UFP Monitor has been designed under the auspices of the European Unionâs Life project, part of the Clean Air For Europe initiative that has been running for several years.
The UFP Monitor can be sited within existing monitoring stations and has been specifically designed for long-term, air quality monitoring. Data is stored on board the monitor and can be polled over conventional Ethernet data ports.
