PCME Ltd Awarded QAL1 Approval – a First for Probe Electrification Type Particulate Emission Monitoring Techniques

Jan 01 2000

PCME Ltd is proud to announce that the DT991 Particulate Emission Monitor has successfully obtained QAL1 approval. Of particular significance to operators of incineration, cement and power plant is the fact that this is the first QAL1 approval awarded for probe electrification type dust monitoring techniques. The QAL1 approval is similar to existing type approval schemes (eg BImSchV 17 in Germany and MCERTS in the UK), but importantly differs in that the instrument uncertainty is also assessed as part of the stringent test procedures conducted by TUV.
New European Standards, EN-14181 and EN-13284-2 relating to particulate control and measurement in The European Waste Incineration Directive
2000/76/EC (WID) specify plant operators must use instruments with an appropriate QAL1 approval. Importantly, the approval also meets the technical standards of the new QAL1 part of MCERTS Version 3. Certified in the measurement range 0-15 mg/m3, the DT991 (Electrodynamic technology-based) provides an alternative solution alongside PCME’s QAL1 approved LMS181, (Pro-Scatter technology-based), in terms of technology choice for plant operators in satisfying the stringent practicalities of meeting this Directive.
Commenting on the recent accreditation achievement, William Averdieck, MD of PCME Ltd said: “PCME and our Service Partners are committed to providing the very best in certified instruments and highest level of application/service support to satisfy EN-14181 and are, therefore, delighted to receive this additional QAL1 achievement.” PCME Ltd are technology leaders in the design, development, manufacture and supply of continuous particulate emission monitors for industrial processes worldwide.
