Indoor air quality monitoring and respiratory health

Apr 15 2020

Critical Environment Technologies, a globally renown manufacturer of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) systems, understands that these are unprecedented times, filled with uncertainty about many things including maintaining a healthy quality of life. As we have learned over the past several months, COVID-19’s primary symptoms are respiratory. Experts estimate that 40% - 70% of the global population are at risk of becoming ill with COVID related respiratory issues like pneumonia. The scale of respiratory recovery ahead of us is extraordinary. Air quality is a key ingredient in respiratory recovery, aiding in effective and efficient treatment critical to the world's medical and economic recovery.

Poor indoor air quality not only reduces productivity and feelings of wellbeing but can leave occupants vulnerable to worsening existing respiratory conditions or developing new respiratory health issues. The air quality inside buildings is affected by many factors such as dust, spores, smoke, organic compounds, build-ups of gas ad gaseous emissions, humidity levels and poor ventilation.

The only way to know whether the air quality is healthy or potentially harmful is to use an IAQ monitor that can aid in identifying the levels of indoor air contaminants, determining if the fresh air intake to re-circulated air ratio is adequate, improving processes required to guarantee healthier indoor air,  providing a log of readings for constant analysis so modifications can be made appropriately, increasing comfort and productivity and preventing and reducing sickness.

CET has specifically designed the handheld Yesair IAQ Respiratory Health Monitor for detecting air quality levels and collecting data inside office buildings, schools, hospitals, retirement homes, airports, research facilities, shopping malls, etc.

The air quality targets include ozone, formaldehyde, particulates, TVOCs, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, temperature and humidity. Understanding the levels of contaminants we are breathing can prevent exasperating, on-going respiratory issues and provide information upon which actions can be taken to keep the air we breathe indoors as healthy as possible.

In recognition of the impact that COVID-19 is having in communities across the world, CET is supporting the global efforts in preventing, detecting and responding to the pandemic by donating a percentage of the sales of the Yesair IAQ Respiratory Health Monitor to COVID-19 related causes.
