A new benchmark in calibration integrity, performance and data reporting comes to the UK

May 21 2019

AcSoft Sound & Vibration has introduced the award-winning Gilibrator® 3 primary air flow calibrator from USA-based Sensidyne. Arguably, the most advanced calibrator of its kind on the market, the Gilibrator 3 is designed to provide performance, reliability, cost and ease-of-use benefits, as well as set a new benchmark for calibration integrity and data reporting.

AcSoft’s new Gilibrator 3 incorporates patented StablFlow™ ‘pulse free valve technology’ for low back pressure to the device being calibrated. It ensures minimal disturbance of the air flow generated by the instrument under calibration, providing high accuracy within 1% of reading. It also equalises pressure on the pump, regardless of puck travel direction.

The Gilibrator 3 calibration system consists of two elements, the dry cell assembly and the control base unit. The function of the flow cell assembly is to provide a means of measuring the puck travelling up a flow tube through a known volume of space.

Unlike competitor dry cell calibrators, the Gilibrator 3 boasts new fixed sensing array technology that eliminates the potential for misalignment of photo sensors. By collecting multiple flow rate data points, the array ensures accurate, reliable data throughout the calibration process, lowering operating costs.

The Gilibrator 3 delivers NST traceability through Sensidyne’s ISO 17025 accredited laboratory. Delivering maximum convenience, accuracy and data integrity, it is designed for mobile use with an advanced rechargeable Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFeP04) battery.

It has the capability of reading and recording flow over the range from 5 cc/min up to  30,000 cc/min using three dry flow cells: low flow dry cell (5 to 450 cc/min), standard flow dry cell (50 to 5,000 cc/min) and high flow dry cell (1 LPM to 30 LPM). A STP sensor measures ambient temperature and pressure, and can correct sample flows to standard conditions.

A modular design enables quick changes of liquid-free, dry flow cells, addressing calibrations from 5cc/min to 20 LPM. It can be configured to meet individual calibration needs and set up to run in continuous or averaging mode. In averaging mode, the user selects the number of samples to be averaged, ranging from a 3 – 20 sample count.

In addition, statistical parameters can be defined for standard and percent deviation between sample sets. Within the settings screen, the user is able to define engineering units of measurement, date, time and temperature, and choose from a selection of languages in the devices library.

The Gilibrator 3 offers the best user interface capabilities with easy to read full colour touch screen display that auto adjusts for visibility in all lighting conditions, including direct sunlight.  The multi-screen user interface has drop down menus and screen keyboard input capabilities.

The last calibration and serial numbers for both the base and connected flow cell are displayed, as well as a reminder of the next calibration due date. Plus, the user can track use of the calibration through displayed cycle counts for both the base and for the flow cell.

The Gilibrator 3 can generate printable calibration reports. Bitmap calibration reports display sample information, saved instrument settings, and individual sample results. The calibrator base can store 100 timestamped calibration events in its on-board memory, allowing calibration data in sampling reports and historic record review for statistical analysis.

It also comes with an SD card slot, which allows increased storage and alternate transfer of calibration data via exporting of bitmap and .csv files. Gilian Connect PC allows data retrieval, record keeping and statistical analysis of data.

The Gilibrator 3 dry cell calibration system kit includes a dry cell assembly (flow cell), control unit base, battery charger, tubing, adaptor, fittings and manual.
