New Chairman for Water Interest Group

Leo Carswell of WRc will be stepping up to become Chairman of SWIG at the end of September 2014, at the end of Richard Luxton’s tenure as Chairman. Leo is well qualified to lead SWIG as a Chartered Scientist with a PhD in instrumentation for water quality monitoring and has wide ranging experience in sensors and instrumentation for water, wastewater and environmental applications. In his day job as a Principal Consultant at WRC, Leo provides expert advice on instrumentation related issues to a wide range of Water Utilities, private companies including manufacturers and public agencies.

You can meet Leo and other SWIG Directors as well as the SWIG Programme Manager, Rosa Richards, at WWEM in November 2014 where SWIG will have a stand. SWIG will again have our popular display of shortlisted posters from our 2014 Early Career Researcher scientific poster competition held to raise awareness of technology development and novel applications related to water measurements, and you will be able to hear presentations from the top 3 entrants. This is a great opportunity for industry to see cutting edge research into sensing in water, meet the researchers themselves and thereby promote innovation in sensor research and commercial application.

The Sensors for Water Interest Group (SWIG) is a not for profit, knowledge-exchange and networking group with a diverse UK-wide membership.
