An investigation into green-tinged
wastewater being emitted by a plant in Mexico has concluded.
The enquiry was launched by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and found that the green-tinged
wastewater, which has now ceased, was caused by a mixture of chemicals from the Mexico
Wastewater Treatment Plant and Teva Pharmaceuticals.
Running for more than five miles along the southern section of the Salt River, the water was noticed due to its irregular colour, reported WaterTechOnline.com.
The DNR concluded that the discolouration was caused by a mixing of chemicals from both the
wastewater plant and the nearby pharmaceutical company.
Elsewhere in the US, a coal ash spill which occurred in Tennessee contaminated surrounding waters with arsenic, it has been revealed.
Although no threat was posed to the municipal water supply, residents with private wells and springs were urged not to drink water from them.
