Gas Detection
Work to Commence on Site of New Gas Detection Manufacturing Facility
May 08 2015
Ion Science – UK manufacturer of gas detection instrumentation for occupational health and environmental monitoring – is set to commence work on the site of its new 1500 square metre, environmentally-friendly plant in Fowlmere, Cambridgeshire.
Ion Science was awarded planning permission last October for the facility which will provide more light assembly, research and office space. Built to the latest environmental standards, the £3.5 million investment will increase manufacturing capacity in line with the company’s global growth strategy.
Construction workers will move in to the land located off Butts Lane spring 2015. Plant and machinery will also begin to arrive on site ready for clearance, ground stabilisation and excavation work.
Duncan Johns, Managing Director at Ion Science comments: “After months of delays due to the lack of support from the planning committee of South Cambridgeshire District Council, or the local parish council, the real graft is at last beginning. It will be fantastic to get started and to see the results of our efforts rising up out of the ground.
“It is a massive milestone in Ion Science’s 25-year history and for this exciting project. The state-of-the-art facility reflects our ambition as a business as we continue to innovate and provide our global customers with cost effective and cutting-edge gas detection instrumentation.
