So What If I Don’t Calibrate My Gas Detector?

May 20 2016

You are taking a big risk if you don’t organise regular calibration of your gas detector. Not only do the instrument readings become unreliable but you could also be putting yourself or others in danger.

The primary purpose of a gas detector is to warn people about potential danger, therefore its use is safety critical. A good service and calibration routine also gives you the peace of mind that you can rely on your gas detector in the event of toxic or flammable gas exposure.

The calibration frequency for gas detection instruments really depends on the instrument use. If a gas detector has been subject to high gas concentrations or unusual conditions, it is generally recommended that a bump test or calibration be performed.

At a1-cbiss, the recommendation is that gas detection equipment is calibrated at least every 6 months for a performance you can rely on. The calibration cycle can be extended for gas monitoring instruments that successfully pass the bump gas test prior to use.

The a1-cbiss Service Centre offers service, repair and calibration for a full range of gas detection services, including area monitoring, single, multi or fixed gas detection - a key activity to ensure your gas monitoring equipment is compliant.
