Extensions to Core-Shell HPLC/UHPLC Columns to be Highlighted at Pittcon 2015

Jan 05 2015

Phenomenex Inc. (USA), a global leader in the research and manufacture of advanced technologies for the separation sciences, will be showing two new versatile extensions to its Kinetex family of core-shell HPLC/UHPLC columns at Pittcon 2015. The first, Kinetex F5, is a new pentafluorophenyl propyl (PFP) core-shell phase that overcomes reproducibility and performance limitations of existing PFP and F5 products on the market. With its fluorinated groups and carbon ring structure, the Kinetex F5 is an excellent choice for both polar and non-polar compound separations as well as challenging methods that include halogenated, conjugated or isomeric compounds. The second is Kinetex EVO C18, a new age core-shell selectivity that incorporates a Phenomenex patented organo-silica grafting process that provides pH stability from 1-12, improved peak shape for bases and 100 percent aqueous stability.

Kinetex F5 delivers improved reproducibility compared to other PFP or F5 columns on the market and can significantly reduce method development time with its dynamic and responsive chemical functionality. It is an ideal solution for HPLC/UHPLC development work with its combination of polar and non-polar interactions, including hydrogen bonding, electrostatic, hydrophobic, aromatic and steric/planar mechanisms. Additional versatility of this phase gives scientists the ability to use reversed phase, 2D-LC, HILIC, SFC or even 100 percent aqueous separation modes.

Kinetex EVO C18 adds acidic and alkaline pH ruggedness and a highly flexible stationary phase to the Kinetex core-shell family of HPLC, UHPLC and preparative LC products. The wide pH 1 to 12 stability and improved peak shape for bases makes the Kinetex EVO C18 especially ideal for analytical and preparative LC methods at a variety of challenging pH levels such as those in open access labs. Additionally, its useful non-polar and polar selectivity make it an excellent choice for peptide analysis while it’s 100 percent aqueous stability aids in the retention and resolution of problematic polar compounds.

Both column types deliver all the advantages of Phenomenex’ Core-Shell Technology including better resolution, higher efficiency, easy method transferability and cost savings from reduced solvent consumption.
