The Welsh government has announced plans to rethink the way it views, protects and manages the environment through a new consultation; according to the BBC.
The Living Wales document established plans for a four-month consultation aimed at documenting the importance of environmental policy in order to shape future policy. By increasing the understanding of environmental issues, better-informed, long-term decisions will be achievable in Wales.
The government also hope to create a single body to tackle these issues, which would combine the Countryside Council for Wales (CCW), Environment Agency Wales (EAW) and the Forestry Commission in Wales (FCW). The formation of a single body should improve clarity for investors and entrepreneurs, according to environment minister John Griffiths.
Mr Griffiths has highlighted the "many obstacles" that are facing the Welsh government currently. Both legal and practical problems have daunted recent decisions on environment policy, such as a recent controversial plan for a 'super dairy' in Powys that sparked concern over pollution levels in the area.
