Latest technology to improve transport air quality across the UK

Apr 07 2020

Emsol has developed and brought to market new technology that empowers organisations to act on improving the air quality of their local environment. With this new software, it is the first time that companies and sites can clearly identify vehicles and assets breaching their pollution policies and hold them accountable.

Emsol is launched to the market at a time when air pollution is becoming more and more prevalent in our daily lives. According to research published in the Cardiovascular Research journal, The Guardian have reported that outdoor air pollution cuts three years from human lifespan and therefore air pollution affects us all if not addressed. The research also found that there are 8.8 million premature deaths around the world as a result of air pollution. Further findings from Breathe GB have warned that air pollution has a stark impact on children in sport and can reduce their lung capacity by as much as 14%. Such figures highlight the importance of technology such as that of Emsol to monitor emissions.

The Emsol platform pulls real time data from air quality monitors to track spikes in emissions including NO2, SO2, O3, PM2.5, PM10 and CO, then correlates this data with real-time vehicle and asset location data. This data is analysed by the EMSOL platform and delivered as specific insights an evidence through powerful, flexible dashboards with ad-hoc reporting and real-time notifications. The data can be penned against DEFRA, international and organisational emission standards, so that companies can see how they are doing and where they need to act.

Emsol’s mission is that every community has a clean, safe and healthy local environment where air quality is high and noise pollution is minimal. Their technology simplifies compliance making it easier for local authorities to achieve environmental targets. As a result, they are able to pinpoint the emission problem the moment it becomes a problem and take specific steps to improve air quality.

Emsol was founded in 2017 by Freddie Talberg and has since grown to service Croydon Council, London School of Economics, Birmingham New Street, EastWestRail, Cross River Partnership, Balfour Beatty, Veolia, Network Rail, Mace and Hanson.

Freddie Talberg, co-Founder of Emsol stated “Air pollution is becoming a significant factor in people’s lives and we need to act fast in order to control it. EMSOL are working to do just this, and we are delighted to be working with a number of local authorities and organisations committed to reaching their environmental targets by reducing air pollution…“We’ve already seen some great results from our partners and look forward to working closely with many more local authorities and businesses around the country to significantly
