UK Specialists Hired to Set Up Updated Analysis System for Tarmac Company

May 22 2015

Lafarge Tarmac, Cauldon Works, have recently updated their analysis systems to make them safer and more reliable. They only had one analyser in their system but were worried that if it developed a fault, the system could become dangerous, leading to long and costly downtimes. They thus decided that they needed a new system which used two analysers: a primary analyser and a back-up analyser which would be automatically switched to should a fault occur.

DRM Technic were hired to provide equipment and set the system up. Their engineers came to site, removed Lafarge’s current system, fitted new gas conditioning components and installed two new Siemens Ultramat 23 analysers. They facilitated the automatic switch-over by designing and supplying a junction box with changeover relays, configuring the analysers accordingly.

Paul Dennis, Lafarge’s Electrical and Process Control Engineer, said that the work done by DRM was “quick, efficient and organised”. This is only one of many projects that DRM have undertaken from Lafarge and it is unlikely to be their last.
