Car company Volvo has publicly announced that more should be done to raise awareness about toxic carbon emissions.
Managing director of Volvo UK Peter Rask spoke about the importance for brands to take responsibility for reducing toxic emissions and improving
air quality for car users.
He said: "Even if the economic situation is tight right now, I think that firms and brands need to inform their consumers about toxic emissions in the best way possible."
Earlier this week, the car firm announced its Equality Emissions campaign which aims to encourage people to ask more about the toxic emission - released with CO2 in exhaust fumes - when buying a new vehicle.
As part of the scheme, Volvo reported that government figures found toxic emissions to be the cause of 50,000 deaths in the UK every year.
It also stated that nitrogen oxide, hydrocarbons and particulates could damage the health of people affected by traffic, including residents, cyclists and pedestrians.
