Severn Trent Laboratories Invest in New Fleet of Stateoftheart Vans

Severn Trent Laboratories (STL), one of the United Kingdom’s leading providers of analytical services, have recently updated their vehicle fleet with the purchase of more than 50 stateoftheart Citroen vans, which will be fitted with the latest technology. The vans will be added to the fleet used by STL’s sampling and monitoring division, which conducts onsite environmental monitoring and sampling throughout the country. The new vehicles will feature satellite navigation and a sophisticated tracking device that will enable STL personnel to react quickly to emergency requests. This technology will enable STL to reduce fuel consumption by up to 20 percent. STL are committed to the health and safety of their employees and, as such, have fitted each van with a lone worker panic alarm, which will function up to 150 metres away. If the alarm is activated a message will be sent to a dedicated phone. The system is linked to the tracking device so that the employee can be located in the event of an emergency.

STL’s team of sampling and monitoring technicians are certified to ISO 9001:2000 and offer services for urban waste water, potable water, treatment works, reservoirs, contaminated land, landfill and effluent monitoring. The team are able to conduct Pipeline and Utility surveys and offer sampling to meet the requirements of the Integrated Pollution, Prevention and Control Directive (IPPC).
