The market for water and
wastewater treatment in South Africa will grow significantly in the future, it has been forecast.
According to calculations from Frost & Sullivan and South African Industrial Water, the market's worth will grow to $135.5 million (£98.6 million) within the next five years.
It was found to be worth $79.4 million in 2007.
Frost & Sullivan analyst Moses Duma said that the need for "water and
wastewater treatment equipment is on a growth trajectory".
This increase will be spurred by "the increasing governmental pressure on companies to responsibly manage their environment, industrial operations that demand clean and high-quality water", he added.
Meanwhile, farmers and environmentalists in Africa could be set to benefit as the International Centre for Tropical Agriculture announced last week that it plans to establish a soil map of the region.
