This year marks the third Meteorological Technology World Expo (MTWE) held in Brussels, Belgium. An international exhibition focusing on the very latest climate, weather and hydro-meteorological forecasting, measurement and analysis instruments, technologies and services. The 2013’s exhibition is expected to attract over 160 exhibitors and around 3,000 attendees. The exhibition is free to attend and will be held from 15 to 17 October at the Brussels Expo.

The need to accurately predict weather is becoming more and more prevalent as we experience extreme weather conditions. Peru was recently declared in a state of emergency following the snow fall that has left half a million livestock dead and thousands of people stranded. In contrast parts of Europe experienced record temperatures with many countries entering heat waves throughout the summer and contributing to hundreds of premature deaths.
2012’s MTWE show was a huge success attracting over 140 exhibitors and nearly 2,500 attendees from over 70 countries, almost double the figures from 2011. Graham Johnson, managing director of UKIP Media & Events (the company that organises the MTWE) described the 2012 exhibition. “We launched this show to help improve weather prediction and climate change measurement accuracy, so it’s been very satisfying to watch business being done all around the exhibition hall every day, with people actually buying the advanced products and services that were on show.
“I think it’s fair to say that every single exhibitor and visitor has enjoyed the event and, moreover, found it useful for their business.” Johnson continued “I’ve spoken with as many attendees as possible and all have commented on the high-profile, renowned industry personalities that they’ve met, plus the quality of the instrumentation, measurement tools and services that were on show. The hall was packed with next-generation meteorological technologies, so I’m told by those that know.”
At the 2013 MTWE exhibitors will be showcasing all the latest innovations in the field of weather forecasting including:
•    Data acquisition and telemetry systems
•    Solar radiation measurement systems
•    Forecasting solutions and services
•    Air quality measurement tools
•    Water level and flow analysis systems
•    Wind sensors and speed measurement
•    Tsunami monitoring and warning
•    Atmospheric modelling and simulation
•    Lightning detection
•    Ocean condition monitoring
•    Severe weather early warning systems
•    Tripods and towers
•    Visibility analysis tools
•    Gas monitoring systems
•    Hydrometeorological hazard analysis tools
•    Weather monitoring systems
Running alongside the exhibition will be insightful conferences covering subjects such as aviation, modelling, simulation, agriculture, shipping, case studies, radar, and airports. The conferences are free to attend and are located right next to the exhibition hall making it easy to dip in and out of them when necessary.
If you are looking for new measurement, forecasting and analysis technologies, weather or research service providers, or simply to meet up with your established suppliers in one convenient location, Meteorological Technology World Expo is the place to be.
Environmental Technology Publications will also be at the exhibition on stand 7030. Come along and pick up the latest copy of each of our magazines. In the following pages you will also find some of the other companies that are exhibiting at the MTWE along with what you can hope to find on their stand.
